Establishment of a European
information system on forest genetic resources

Coordination (Work package 5)

Activity 5.1 Overall technical coordination

This task coordinates the implementation of the technical work packages and other activities of the project. The project activities have also been linked to the work of the European Forest Genetic Resources Programme (EUFORGEN). Updates of the project activities and outputs have been presented to the EUFORGEN Steering Committee and the Networks. They have provided inputs to various project activities. Activity 5.2 Administrative and financial management

Bioversity International is continuing day-to-day management of the project. This includes provision of requested information to the EC, monitoring of budget and preparation of financial and technical reports (including collection of financial reports from each partner). Bioversity International also maintains agreements, declarations and other important project documents.

Activity 5.3 Creation of the project website

The content of the project website, including a more user friendly access, has been improved and a completely new website was developed for the project. The development of the actual online information system (or the EUFGIS Portal) is underway and it will be launched at the final meeting of the action in mid-2010. Activity 5.4 Steering group meetings

The Steering Group consists of representatives from all partner institutes and it will meet three times during the project period. The first meeting took place at Bioversity International in Maccarese (Rome), Italy on 12-13 April 2007. This meeting also served as a kick-off event of the action.
The second meeting of the Steering Group was organized Ljubljana, Slovenia on 3 October 2008. During the meeting, the Steering Group reviewed the progress made and discussed the implementation of the activities in 2009. The third meeting of the Steering Group will be held in Rome, Italy in early 2010. (Activity leader: Bioversity International)
